FIELD: agriculture, in particular, vegetable growing, more particular, evaluation of farm plant bulb ripeness.

SUBSTANCE: method involves examining bulbs as to formation thereon of dry scales; during period of forming dry scales, determining three times the content of free proline in collum; registering time of its essential accumulation, in particular, by 1.5-2.0 times with following stabilization; evaluating bulb ripeness on the basis of said data and determining harvesting time thereof.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and economic evaluation of bulb ripeness, objective determination of harvesting time and thereby substantially increased storage time.
