FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing five-six fold selection of plant leaf samples during spring from fields, where winter crops are cultivated, before and after transition of air temperature to 5 C; determining proline content in leaves and calculating vegetation factors expressed by ratio of amino acid content in leaves gathered before transition of daily mean temperature to 5 C and amino acid content in leaves gathered after said transition temperature; judging, on the basis of obtained vegetation factors, whether or not time for spring vegetative renewal of plants has come, with vegetation factor of at least 2.0 corresponding to complete going out of plants from rest state and coming of spring vegetative renewal time for plants, and vegetation factor equal to or below 1.0 showing incomplete coming of spring vegetative renewal time for plants. EFFECT: increased efficiency by improved objectiveness of evaluation. 1 tbl
