FIELD: electric measuring technique.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used for finding breaks in communication circuits. Leading end equipment performs simultaneous probing and measurement of phase of carrier received from end equipment of segment to be probed brought into synchronization with end equipment. Data is put into microcomputer's memory. Measured value of phase and shape of reflex-gram is compared with previous values. In case the phase and shape of reflex-gram changes, availability or absence of defect in probed sample is diagnosed.
EFFECT: improved precision of measurement.
