FIELD: technology for studying frictional properties of metallic covers by means of electrochemical solution of micro-section of surface of sample to estimate linear wear.

SUBSTANCE: method for estimating wear of metallic covers is realized by means of determining thickness of cover before and after wear by means of electrochemical solution of micro-sections of surface of researched and standard samples. Electrochemical solution of micro-section of cover surface is performed so that electrochemical probe is lowered onto surface of sample, electrochemical process is performed, recording full perforation time, being linear function of thickness of cover, and then standard sample is dissolved up to full removal of cover material, recording time of perforation, while in both cases perforation time is used to compute cover thickness, while sample being researched represents cover after wear, while wear is less than thickness of cover, and standard sample represents non-worn cover of similar composition.

EFFECT: expanded functional capabilities, increased precision, information capacity and productiveness of analysis.
