EXPANDABLE ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2296526 C2

FIELD: medical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: device has elongated body member, a set of strips beginning in the first terminal area, a set of supporting levers connected to rods, and drive. The elongated body has the first and second terminal areas determining longitudinal axis between them. The strips have their first ends connected to the first terminal area, and their second ends disposed far from the first terminal area. The second strip ends are movable from mainly longitudinally folded state, into essentially transversely broad structure. Each of the strips is determined by pair of narrow pedicles available on both sides of corresponding supporting lever. The drive is connected to the supporting levers. The drive is movable in axial direction relative to the elongated body member, to make the second strip ends move from the folded state into the widely spread state by means of the supporting levers. Method for producing the device for stabilizing bone involves giving the first and the second elongated tubular body having the first and second terminal areas, determining longitudinal axis between them, strips formation on the first terminal area having the first ends, remains attached to the first terminal area. The second ends are axially directed relative to the first ends, supporting levers are formed on strips. The first ends of the supporting levers are connected to the drive. The second ends are freely movable relative to the tubular body. The supporting levers have the first ends freely movable relative to the strips and the second ends remaining attached to the rods. The drive is freely movable in an axial direction relative to the tubular body to make the second ends move transversely outward relative to the longitudinal axis.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; improved structural stability in transverse plane and fractured bone rotation plane.
