FIELD: railway transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in traction electric drives of rail vehicles. proposed traction electric drive contains series-wound dc traction motors connected to output of voltage converter consisting of two adjustable thyristor rectifiers whose inputs are designed for connecting three-phase ac voltage, and outputs are connected in series, being output of voltage converter. Field current regulators are connected in parallel to field windings of traction electric motors. Each current regulator is made in form of resistor unit connected to field winding of traction motor through contactor. Shunting is connected through second contactor in parallel to resistor unit. Contactor control circuits and control inputs of thyristor rectifiers are connected to corresponding outputs of controller.
EFFECT: simplified design of device, improved reliability and reduced power losses.
