FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: inventions are related to the field of radio location and may be used in surveillance radio locating stations (RLS) with "pencil" beam with size of Δβ by azimuth and Δε by tilt angle. Technical result is achieved by the fact that in process of serial surveillance of angular directions, n≥1 of sequential surveys of angular direction are omitted, in which during previous survey signal was not detected, which exceeds level established below detection threshold at all sections of distance or below detection threshold established at sections of distance located further than specified border of target detection, and in all remaining sections of distance - equal to threshold; value of level is established based on calculation of permissible probability of erroneous probing of angular direction, in which target is not available. Versions have also been considered for establishment of detection signal level and number of omissions of angular direction surveillances. Directions, probing of which is omitted, are surveyed in passive mode in frequency range of external RES, and in case signals of external RES are detected in surveyed angular direction, its alternate probing is carried out; into directions, probing of which has been omitted, request signals are radiated from active response systems of one or several countries, and whenever response signal is detected in surveyed angular direction, its alternate probing by RLS is sequentially carried out.

EFFECT: elimination of "impulse hunger" problem in surveillance RLS with preservation of specified surveillance rate.
