FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: generator on virtual cathode comprises a source of electrons, made in the form of a thermal electron gun, an electrodynamic system (9) with power output (11), a collector (13), the first (7) and the second (8) grates arranged between the source of electrons and the collector perpendicularly to direction of the electrons beam (1) movement with the possibility to form a virtual cathode (14) in the electrodynamic system between the first and second grates, at the same time the electrodynamic system is made in the form of a section of a spiral moderating system, the power output is made as a waveguide transfer line, and the collector - in the form of an electrode arranged at the generator's exit, according to the solution, the source of electrons is fully screened from the external magnetic field. The generator additionally comprises a magnetic system (12), made with the possibility to create an external longitudinal homogeneous magnetic field between grates of the electrodynamic system, and also a magnetic screen (6), arranged between the source of electrons and the first grate, at the same time the magnetic screen is made with the possibility to form a transition area with the magnetic field surge between the source of electrons and the first grate.
EFFECT: development of efficient source of wideband noise-like oscillations of low and medium level of capacity of centimetre and millimetre range of wave lengths with low ripple of output radiation spectrum on the basis of the electronic beam in modes with formation of the virtual cathode.
