FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metallurgy. The device comprises a pouring reservoir 1, facilities 2, 3 to dispense metal, a crystalliser 7, a drum 4 to feed a bar 5, a cylindrical primer 13. The crystalliser 7 has two vertical faces 8, made with the possibility of reciprocal movement, and two faces 9 with inclined upper 10 and vertical lower 11 sections made as capable of rotation. In the vertical lower sections of the crystalliser faces there are cylindrical grooves arranged, the ratio of radius "R" of which to the radius "r" of the bar 5 makes 0.04-0.06. The primer 13 made of metal that is more plastic than metals of the protector is installed into a crystalliser, the main metal is poured, the metal crust is formed on the crystalliser faces, a bar fixed on the primer is supplied to the centre of the crystalliser, the main metal is pressed in two-phase condition, and the finished protector - in the solid condition, the surface of the protector is calibrated in cylindrical grooves of the crystalliser. The ratio of the melt temperature of the main metal "tm" and the bar "tb" makes 0.45-0.47.
