SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a novel method of producing N-(1-adamantyl)acetamide , used to produce pharmaceutical preparations, involving reaction of 1-bromoadamantane with acetonitrile in the presence of water under the action of manganese-containing catalysts such as MnCl2, MnBr2, Mn(OAc)2, Mn(acac)2, Mn(acac)3, Mn2(CO)10 at temperature 100-130°C for 1-3 hours, with molar ratio [1-bromoadamantane] : [CH3CN] : [H2O] : [catalyst] equal to 100:300-500:100:3.
EFFECT: complete conversion of 1-bromoadamantane and absence of by-products.
