SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a novel method of producing N-(1-adamantyl)acetamide, which is a close precursor of biologically active amines, having antimicrobial and antiviral activity, involving reaction of adamantanol-1 with acetonitrile in an aqueous medium, characterised by that the reaction is carried out in the presence of manganese-containing catalysts Mn(OAc)2, Mn(acac)3 and Mn(CO)10, activated with hydrobromic acid, in molar ratio [adamantanol-1]:[CH3CN]:[H2O]:[catalyst]:[HBr] = 100:800:100:1-3:1-3.
EFFECT: obtaining a single reaction product (N-(1-adamantyl)acetamide) and high conversion (95%) of adamantanol-1.
