FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing 3-aroylcyclopropane-1,1,2,2-tetracarbonitriles of general formula (1), where R - Ph, 4-BrPh, 4-CH3OPh, 3,4-(CH3)2Ph, 3-NO2Ph, which can be used as biologically active substances, having anti-tumour activity with respect to cancer of the bowel, prostate, kidneys and ovaries. The method involves first mixing the corresponding acetophenone with dimethylsulphoxide and hydrobromic acid in molar ratio 1:12:4 at temperature 50-60°C, after which water is added and the reaction mass is heated to 90-95°C. A mixture consisting of a solution of bromine and malonodinitrile in molar ratio 1:2 in a mixture of ethanol and water is then added to the reaction mass.
EFFECT: method simplifies production of compounds of formula (1) due to realisation thereof in a single step.
