FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology and aims at diagnosing primary initial exophytic, endophytic, combined retinoblastoma in children. The method involves optical coherent tomography. A tumour tissue is localised in an internal or external retinal layer; neuroepithelium is examined in a tumour-adjoining region, and exudate between retinal pigment epithelium and neuroepithelium is found. If the tumour tissue is localised at the level of internal retinal layers, neither neuroepithelium appear to be detached in the tumour-adjoining region, nor exudate is found between retinal pigment epithelium and neuroepithelium, the endophytic form is diagnosed. The tumour tissue localised at the level of external retinal layers, detached neuroepithelium in the tumour-adjoining region, exudate between retinal pigment epithelium and neuroepithelium enable diagnosing the exophytic form. And if the tumour tissue is localised at the level of both external and internal retinal layers, while detached neuroepithelium in the tumour-adjoining region and exudate between retinal pigment epithelium and neuroepithelium are observed, the combined form is diagnosed.
EFFECT: technique enables diagnosing the forms of initial retinoblastoma due to detecting the common tomographic characteristics.
