SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for differential diagnosis of initial melanoma and choroid nevi. Spectral optical coherence tomography with improved deepened image of Enhanced Depth Imaging is conducted. If observing scleraechoroidal interface excavation, neuroepithelial detachment above the tumor and in the tumor adjacent zone and macula, photoreceptor lobes, defects in the basal membrane, disorganization of pigment in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) with accumulation of deposits is diagnosed with initial choroid melanoma. If the scleraechoroidal interface is flat, the hyperreflectivity at the level of the chorio capillaries is diagnosed as a choroid nevus.

EFFECT: method provides more accurate diagnosis of the initial melanoma and choroid nevus with the possibility of developing an adequate approach to the organ-preserving treatment taking into account the benign or malignant nature of the tumor.
