FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves vacuum laser ablation in reaction chamber with target evaporation using solid laser and further amorphous diamond-like film coating deposition on a surgical blade. The method provides using a pyrolytic graphite target and an Nd:YAG solid laser having a wave length of 532 nm, a power of 15-25 J, an output laser pulse energy of 80-160 mJ, a pulse repetition rate of 50 Hz and a pulse duration of 15·10-9. The surgical blade is placed at 10-25 cm from the target at an angle of 15-45°. The coating is deposited for 10-40 minutes at a reaction chamber pressure of 6÷10-4 Pa. The surgical blade with the deposited amorphous diamond-like coating on the blade has an average surface roughness of the blade of no more than 60 nm, and a Raman scattering spectrum with peaks localised within 1600 cm-1 and 1355 cm-1.
EFFECT: improving quality of surgical blades by biocompatible carbonaceous coating deposition; the cutting surface is flatter and smoother that provides easier postoperative period.
