FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the chemical industry. Chlorine dioxide is obtained by the reduction of chlorate-ions in a water reaction medium with the application of methanol as a reducing agent. A water solution, containing chlorine dioxide, is obtained by the separation of chlorine dioxide-containing gas from the water reaction medium and absorption of chlorine dioxide from the said gas by water. At least, a part of the water solution, which contains chlorine dioxide, is delivered to its final application within an average storage term, constituting less than 60 minutes. A part of the obtained water solution is contained in a storage reservoir at a temperature from 0 to 12°C. The water solution, containing chlorine dioxide, is subjected to purification before introduction into the said storage reservoir.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the loss of chlorine dioxide in the water solution.
