FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: entire volume of the water cooled melting furnace is filled with quarts sand. In the quartz sand melting zone between the cathode installed at top of the melting furnace, and anode on bottom of the melting furnace the flow of the low temperature plasma with power 35-56 kW, specific heat power 1.8-2.6·106 W/m2 and temperature 2900-3700°C. After full melting and filling of the melting furnace by the melted quartz sand, to the obtained melt with break 2 minutes new doses of the quartz sand are added. Each dose is added to the melting zone continuously for 5 minutes. The melt surpluses are drained to the mould.
EFFECT: production of chemically uniform silica melt at low power consumption.
