FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: slow neutron diamond detector consists of a diamond plate, two contact electrodes, a slow neutron converter and external leads for supplying bias voltage and tapping an output signal, wherein one of the contact electrodes is in the form of a set of graphite columns arranged in the volume of the diamond plate such that the distance from the ends of the graphite columns to the second contact electrode is not greater than 5-10 mcm, wherein the bases of the graphite columns are connected in parallel to the lead for supplying bias voltage, and the slow neutron converter is mounted over the surface of the other contact electrode.

EFFECT: reduced sensitivity to background gamma-radiation.
