FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: steel article is quenched to martensite. Then, it is subjected at the room temperature for 10-15 minutes to pulsating subsonic airflow effects at 1130-2100 Hz and sound pressure of 120-140 dB. The latter is supplemented by effects of hollow metal balls vibrating in pulsating airflow. Said balls are arranged along the article processed surface as parallel rows of chains composed of a mesh of crossing chains of balls or fitted in cells of wire gauze.
EFFECT: high toughness, strength and hardness.
