FIELD: metallurgy; technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing ferrous metals, in particular, to processing intermediate-carbon alloyed structural steels. To achieve technical result, method comprises hardening and low-temperature tempering of articles, then exposing to pulsating subsonic airflow at room temperature with frequency of 550–1,000 Hz for 15–35 minutes, which increases mobility of dislocations in steel and relaxation of residual microstress.
EFFECT: technical result is higher impact resistance and ductility without loss in strength.
