METHOD FOR ASSESSING EFFECTIVENESS OF TUBERCULOSIS CHEMOTHERAPY IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS SUFFERING RESPIRATORY TUBERCULOSIS Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC G01N33/48 G01N33/68

Abstract RU 2574985 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: chemotherapy procedure is followed by conducting diagnostic testing, and comparing the diagnostic findings before and after the chemotherapy procedure ensures assessing the effectiveness of the chemotherapy. A pipette is used to apply 200 mcl of plasma into a script well; the plasma is incubated for 30 minutes at room temperature and analysed for the procalcitonin concentration by comparing a test line colour density to coloured blocks in a comparison chart. If the procalcitonin concentration is <0.5 ng/ml that corresponds to the absence of test line colour, the diagnostic result is considered negative. If the pre- and posttherapeutic procalcitonin level has decreased, the chemotherapy is stated to have a positive effect.

EFFECT: using the presented method enables the early diagnosis of the effectiveness of the tuberculosis chemotherapy in children and adolescents suffering respiratory tuberculosis.
