FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of heating ingots in a pit furnace. Method includes feeding fuel into the furnace and heating at least two ingots mounted with an inclination to the corresponding first and second opposite inner walls of the heating furnace to form a V-shaped space there between, wherein at least one separate lance for an oxidant having an oxygen content at least 85 wt. % and at least one separate lance for fuel are arranged in the furnace wall with their orifices opening into the furnace at a distance from each other, ensuring the respective supply of the oxidant and fuel into the V-shaped space for combustion therein, wherein the orifice of the oxidant lance is located above the orifice of the fuel lance and is directed to enable the passage of the oxidant obliquely downwards and in the longitudinal direction of the V-shaped space.
EFFECT: high temperature homogeneity in a heating furnace is provided.
