SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital signal processing. Coding method includes obtaining target number of movement information predictors to be used for coded image section, and generation of set of movement information predictors using obtained target quantity. Set is generated by means of: obtaining first set of movement information predictors, wherein each is connected to image area, having predetermined spatial and/or time ratio with coded image area; modification of first set of movement information predictors by removal of double movement information predictors, for obtaining reduced set of movement information predictors, each movement information predictor of reduced set therein differs from any other motion information predictor of reduced set; comparison of first number of movement information predictors with obtained target quantity, and if first amount is less than target number, additional motion information predictor is obtained and added into reduced set of movement information predictors.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of spatial and time redundancies in video stream.
