SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in continuous casting. Prior to casting of liquid metal into crystallizer water circulating in closed circuit and in channels of crystallizer walls, and walls are heated to temperature of 150-170 °C. After heating walls in liquid metal is poured in crystallizer and simultaneously hot water, circulating in closed circuit, is cooled.
EFFECT: improved quality of obtained metal billet, while reducing consumption of cooling water and electric power.
