FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: crystalliser comprises two vertical facets designed to perform reciprocal movements and two inclined facets performing rotary movements. Before casting the inclined facets are heated by means of thermal pipes. Heat zones of the thermal pipes are assembled outside facets in cases for supplying heated gases and exhausting cooled ones; at that gas burners are installed in them. Cooling zones of the thermal pipes are located in vertical apertures in lower portions of the inclined facets. Along the inclined facets of the crystalliser there are placed two bands made out of cast metal. When heated facets achieve temperature t = (0.3-0.4) tmelt, where tmelt is a melting temperature of poured metal, then metal casting into the crystalliser with bands begins. The bands melt with a blank in the process of casting and simultaneous compression of the blank with the bands. During casting the facets of the crystalliser are cooled.
EFFECT: upgraded quality of blanks and increased output of proper metal.
