FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metal cutting and can be used to forecast or control the operability (strength, durability) of the ceramic plates of cutting tools in their manufacturing, using or certification. Substance: testing for the input parameter value change due to the properties of the structure formed in the process of manufacturing cutting tools, plotting the reference-correlation relationship "nput parameter - wear resistance", monitoring only the input parameter value in the current batch of cutting tools, and forecasting the operability (wear resistance) for the current batch of the instruments based on dependence are carried out. The value of electrical resistivity of cutting ceramics is proposed to be used as the input parameter value.
EFFECT: invention enhances the processing quality of the precision components of machine part billets by determining (forecasting) the operability of an instrument equipped with cutting ceramics.
