FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to oncology, and can be used in predicting flow of tumor in colon cancer without distant metastases for individualization and in selecting optimal treatment strategy. Essence and novelty of the invention lies in the fact, that prior to surgery determine the presence of mutations of the KRAS gene in the tumor; this is followed by a hemicolectomy and after it perform the study of circulating tumor cells in the blood, in the absence of KRAS gene mutation and content of circulating tumor cells of more than ten in 7.5 ml of blood predict metastasis in 100 % of cases; in the presence of KRAS gene mutation and content of circulating tumor cells of more than five in 7.5 ml of blood predict metastasis in 100 % of cases.
EFFECT: technical and economic efficiency of the method lies in the fact that the use of the method allows to predict the development of metastases after surgical treatment of colon cancer without distant metastases, to individualize the treatment strategy and if necessary to carry out chemotherapy and to reduce the frequency of metastases, and it is simple to perform.
