METHOD FOR ORTHOKERATOLOGY CONTACT LENSES SELECTION FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH MILD TO MODERATE MYOPIA Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61F9/00

Abstract RU 2615723 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: prior to selection, the next day, and 7 days after orthokeratology contact lens selection, a standard diagnostic evaluation is performed, and an orthokeratology contact lens is selected by means of calculation of its parameters. The lens positioned on the patient cornea surface, maintained for 40-60 minutes with eyes closed, then and on the next day the contact lens position is determined by staining with fluorescein solution. To assess the current adaptation period, corneal optical coherence tomography is performed in addition to the standard survey, when epithelium thikness in the cornea optical center cornea and in the mid-peripheral is defined. Keratometer index is calculated as the ratio of epithelium thicknesses. At index value of 0.8 or higher for patients with mild myopia, and 0.7 or higher for patients with moderate myopia, the correct selection of orthokeratology contact lens is concluded.

EFFECT: method enables increasing the effectiveness of orthokeratology contact lens selection.
