SUBSTANCE: video decoding method, in which for each received bitstream of the plurality of received bitstreams, it is determined, whether the received bitstream is proper or improper, including determining that the received bitstream is an improper bitstream, if the received bitstream includes syntax elements in a video parameter set (VPS) that duplicate the content for, at least, one of the operating point or information about the parameters of the hypothetical reference decoder (HRD) for the operating point; and for, at least, one bitstream from the plurality of received bitstreams determined to be proper: the first syntax elements in the VPS within the bitstream are decoded indicating the first operating point having the first set of contents; and, if applicable, the second syntax elements in the VPS within the bitstream are decoded indicating information about the settings for HRD, which has the second content set for the first operating point. The second set of content is different from the first set of content.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of signaling information associated with the operating points.
