SUBSTANCE: method for decoding of at least one coding unit includes a stage of determining a coding unit structure of at least one mentioned coding unit from the bitstream. The coding unit structure describes division of the coding unit into at least one mentioned coding unit and divison of at least one mentioned coding unit into a plurality of prediction units. The method also includes the stage of decoding, according to a particular coding unit structure, an arithmetically coded flag of the most likely mode for each of the mentioned plurality of prediction units in at least one mentioned coding unit from the first unit of adjacently coded data in the bitstream.

EFFECT: increased processing capacity of data when encoding or decoding video data due to parallel reading of adjacent bins from the bitstream.
