Method comprises the step of decoding a plurality of portions of the first information, each of which is for a single unit of a plurality of prediction units in a coding unit from a bitstream, wherein said plurality of parts of the first information in the bit stream are arithmetically coded, each of said plurality of parts of the first information indicates, whether to use any of a variety of specific intra-prediction modes for the prediction unit. And, also, a plurality of portions of the second information are decoded, each of which is assigned to a single unit of said plurality of prediction units in the coding unit from the bitstream after decoding the plurality of portions of the first information.
