FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for processing data from remote radiometric sensing of the Earth's surface. Radiometer is placed above an underlying surface at an altitude at which the contribution of the atmospheric layer to the radiometric signal from the surface is negligible. When probing up, the radiometric signal from the underlying surface is measured for given values of the angle of incidence, azimuth and polarisation. When probing down, the radiometric signal from the atmosphere is measured for given values of the zenith angle, azimuth and polarisation. Further, a radiometric signal is measured or calculated from a black body having a thermodynamic temperature of the underlying surface. Using the above parameters, the effective emissivity of the underlying surface is calculated.
EFFECT: determination of the effective emissivity of the underlying surface based on direct measurements.
