Proposed is a method for the diagnosis and/or determining the subject predisposition to developing acute renal damage, comprising determining the expression level of at least miR-26b and comparing said expression level with a control value, where the alteration of said expression level is indicative of acute renal damage or predisposition to developing acute renal damage. In vitro reagent kit and at least miR-26b is proposed for the diagnosis and/or determining predisposition to developing acute renal damage or toxic etiology.

EFFECT: proposed group of inventions provides effective tools and methods for diagnosing and/or determining predisposition to developing acute renal damage.
