SUBSTANCE: using: for transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves. Summary of the invention consists in that ultrasonic transducer comprises a plurality of transducer elements for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves, each of which has a substrate and a flexible membrane located some distance from the substrate. Variable voltage control unit is provided for controlling the alternating voltage applied to each of the converter elements, as well as a constant voltage control unit for controlling a constant bias voltage applied to the conversion elements, in order to bring the flexible membranes into contact with the substrate in a collapsing state. DC voltage control unit is configured to temporarily disable the DC bias voltage from the converter elements during operation of the ultrasonic transducer to limit the collapse mode.

EFFECT: technical result: providing an opportunity to realize an ultrasonic transducer having high sensitivity and extended service life.
