FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a block copolymer and to versions of a process for preparation thereof. Process for preparing the block copolymer of the first embodiment comprises first preparing a first polymer block by polymerising a monomer selected from the group consisting of lactide and/or lactone, epoxide and anhydride, epoxide and carbon dioxide. Then a single catalyst system is brought into contact with a compound having a three-, four- or five-membered saturated ring and at least one heteroatom selected from O, S, N. Further, a second polymer block is prepared by polymerising a second monomer selected from the group consisting of lactide and/or lactone, epoxide and anhydride, epoxide and carbon dioxide. Process for preparing the block copolymer of the second embodiment comprises first preparing a mixture comprising an epoxide, a first monomer selected from the group consisting of lactide and/or lactone, either an anhydride or carbon dioxide, a second monomer comprising lactide and/or lactone, or an anhydride or carbon dioxide. Mixture is then brought into contact with a single catalyst system.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a block copolymer in high yield using a single catalyst system for the preparation of all polymer blocks.
