SUBSTANCE: absorbent article (10) includes absorbent member (1) including a plurality of absorbent sections (4), each of which includes long base portion (2) and water absorbent polymer particles (3), absorbent sections (4) being arranged such that their longitudinal direction (Y) is oriented in at least one direction. Long base parts (2) are formed from a hydrophilic sheet. Water absorbent polymer particles (3) are attached only to the surface facing the skin of the surface of each long base portion (2). Before the liquid is absorbed by the water absorbent polymer particles (3), particles (3) do not protrude laterally (X) beyond side edge portions (2s) of each long base part (2), and also after the liquid has been absorbed by particles (3), particles (3) do not swell beyond edge portions (2s) located laterally.

EFFECT: invention relates to an improvement in an absorbent member in an absorbent article, in which the probability of impeding the penetration of the recovered liquid is reduced, a sufficient characterization of the water absorption of the water-absorbing polymer is provided, the probability of a leakage of the liquid is reduced.
