SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous casting. Method of producing a bimetallic strip involves feeding a main strip into a crystallizer, supplying liquid steel of the cladding layer to the crystallizer and connecting the cladding layer to the main strip at the outlet of the detachable crystallizer when the crystallizing crust of the cladding layer approaches the main strip and simultaneous reduction and drawing of bimetallic strip by movable strikers of detachable crystallizer. Bimetallic strip is drawn from the crystallizer at a rate V, m/min, determined by the expression V=K2×H/σ2, where K is the crystallization coefficient, H is the height of the melt of the clad metal in the crystallizer, mm, σ – thickness of cladding layer crust at crystallizer outlet, mm. Main strip is made of cermet and passed through liquid metal of cladding layer without tension. Making the main strip from cermet allows excluding its warpage and melting in the melt of the cladding layer, which contributes to reduction of thickness variation of cladding layers and obtaining the specified ratio of layers thicknesses. Reduction of bimetallic strip with strikers is performed with degree of deformation providing mutual displacement of main strip and cladding layer.

EFFECT: higher quality of bimetallic strips.
