FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous casting of bimetallic strip. Strip of base metal is fed into crystalliser in solid state, strip of liquid metal of clad layer is fed into crystallizer. At the outlet of the crystallizer, the clad layer is connected to the base metal strip when the clad layer of the clad layer converts to the base metal band, simultaneous reduction and drawing of bimetallic strip by movable profiled walls of detachable crystallizer. Compression of bimetallic strip with strikers is performed with degree of deformation providing mutual displacement of base strip and clad layer or its absence and occurrence of compressive stresses in area of deformation of bimetallic strip. Degree of deformation is determined by formula ε = (σ-δ) /σ 100 %, where δ - thickness of clad layer, mm, σ is thickness of crust layer at crystallizer outlet, mm.
EFFECT: improved quality of bimetallic strips due to increased strength of connection of bimetal layers and improved structure of metal of clad layer.
