METHOD OF DIAGNOSTIC ATROPHY OF OPTIC NERVE IN PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B8/14 A61B8/10

Abstract RU 2674883 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology and radiation diagnosis, and can be used to diagnose atrophy of the optic nerve (ONA) in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Area of the optic nerve disk and the peripapillary area are scanned in a circle with a diameter of 3.46 mm using optical coherence tomography. Measure the thickness of the middle layer of nerve fibers of the retina according to the protocol Optic Disc Cube 200×200 and the macular area of the ellipse. Major axis of the ellipse is horizontal and is equal to 3.46 mm, the smaller axis is equal to 2.8 mm. Ellipse is divided into 6 equal sectors. Measure the thickness of the complex of retinal ganglion cells (RGC) with an internal plexiform layer (IPL) according to the Ganglion Cell Analysis protocol: Macular Cube 512×128. If the average thickness of the middle layer of the nerve fibers of the retina is less than 62 microns, the average thickness of the RGC complex with IPL is less than 52 microns, the average thickness of the upper sector of the RGC complex with IPL is less than 51 microns, the average thickness of the lower sector of the RGC complex with IPL is less than 50 microns, then ONA is diagnosed in patients with MS.

EFFECT: method provides reliable diagnostics of ONA in MS by measuring the thickness of the middle layer of nerve fibers of the retina and the average thickness of the RGC complex with IPL by means of optical coherent tomography.
