FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for producing α-amino acids from volatile fatty acid (VFA) molecules, called precursors, which are obtained by anaerobic fermentation from fermentable biomass. Process includes at least the following steps: a) extraction of molecules of volatile fatty acids (VFA) without stopping fermentation using an extraction agent selected from agents that are at least insoluble in the fermentation medium; b) collecting volatile fatty acids (VFA) outside the fermentation reactor after their extraction; c) synthesis of this α-halogenated acid by halogenation using a type of volatile fatty acid (VFA) selected from the volatile fatty acids collected in step b), and determined according to the type of desired α-amino acids, with the use of anhydride of the corresponding volatile fatty acid, which must be halogenated; d) synthesis of a specific α-amino acids from this α-halogenated acid by reaction with a compound selected from ammonia, primary amine, secondary amine.
EFFECT: proposed process allows the production of various types of α-amino acids easily and without restrictions associated with other production methods.
