SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electron emitter for an X-ray tube. Electron emitter comprises electrically conductive substrate (23) and nanostructured material (24). Nanostructured material is contained in at least a portion of the electrically conductive substrate. Nanostructured material is made of oxides, nitrides, silicides, selenides, or tellurides. Such an electron emitter can be used for hybrid emission, for example, Schottky emission or field emission.
EFFECT: broader functionality of the electron emitter due to the possibility of providing hybrid emissions, for example, Schottky emissions or field emission.
