In one example, in the method, water is injected upstream from the intake air cooler when the specified cooler is operating in the heating mode, the water injection is carried out downstream from the specified cooler when the cooler is operating in cooling mode. In this case, the operation of the cooler in the heating mode is carried out in dry, cold environmental conditions and on the basis of the dilution request, and the operation of the cooler in the cooling mode is carried out in the working conditions in the boost mode and when the engine is detonated.

EFFECT: invention allows to improve engine performance and fuel economy.
