FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a drum for making a tire, in particular a self-supporting tire. Proposed method comprises making drum with first shrinking section and second shrinkage section. At that, each shrinkage section is made with shrinking surface, which is made with possibility of movement in radial direction. Method further includes a step of moving shrinkage surfaces radially inward relative to the central axis from a flat position to a shrinkage position. Drum in zone of shrinkage surfaces has circumferential periphery with second diameter (D2), which is smaller than first diameter (D1), at simultaneous creation of low vacuum between shrinkage surfaces and first layer of tire in zone of first shrinking section and second shrinking section, and shrinkage of first layer of tire on shrinkage surfaces in shrinkage position under action of low vacuum. Invention also relates to a drum intended for use in the above method.

EFFECT: invention provides increased accuracy of tires manufacturing.
