FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: methods and systems are proposed to ensure flow of exhaust gases through a second cooler located downstream of the first coolant and upstream of the inlet system in the exhaust gas recirculation channel, and extraction of condensate for injection of water from condensate into cooled exhaust gases leaving second cooler. In one example, the method may include controlling the amount of exhaust gases flowing through the second coolant based on the amount of water stored in the water tank in the water spray system and engine operating conditions. Besides, the method may include selective flow of exhaust gases from the second cooler to a location upstream or downstream of the compressor in response to engine operating conditions.

EFFECT: methods and systems are proposed to ensure flow of exhaust gases through the second cooler.
