FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Disclosed is a method of controlling an internal combustion engine comprising the following steps. Generation of feedback correction signal of universal sensor of oxygen content in exhaust gases based on slow and fast time components in external loop of catalyst control system. Slow time component is a narrow-band control signal which reflects any constant or slowly varying deviation. Fast time component represents a broadband control signal for immediate correction with a feedback from the sensor. Generation of correction signal for compensation of deviation along inner contour based on slow component. Indication of motor system parameters deterioration based on comparison of compensation signal and deterioration threshold. Invention covers also version of control method of internal combustion engine and system for control of internal combustion engine.
EFFECT: technical result consists in effective control over external outline while maintaining road properties of vehicle, as well as meeting requirements for noise, vibrations, sharpness and compliance with standards for toxic emissions in the presence of asymmetric deviation of air-fuel ratio.
