SUBSTANCE: invention relates to conversion of metadata, in particular to calculation of special metadata set for model of color volume conversion (CVT), using existing set of metadata, which is special for completely different model of CVT. Technical result is achieved by the fact that the existing set of metadata, which is special for the color volume conversion model, is converted to a set of metadata, which is special for a completely different color volume conversion model. For example, metadata of source content for a first color space conversion model are received. Initial metadata define a special color space conversion, such as a sigmoid tone display curve. Special conversion of the color volume is displayed in conversion of the color volume of the second color volume conversion model, for example Bezier tone mapping curve. Display may be a curve of best selection or acceptable approximation. Display results in the metadata values are used for the second color space conversion model (e. g., fracture point and Bezier curve reference point). Devices configured for the second color volume conversion model may intelligently render the original content in accordance with the received metadata of the original content of the first color space conversion model.

EFFECT: technical result is providing efficient transition from formats of extended dynamic range (HDR).
