FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to biotechnology, namely to estimating the area of eukaryotic cells adhered on opaque surfaces. Method involves fixation of cells using glutaric aldehyde and ethanol or formaldehyde, cell staining with 0.3 % aqueous solution of pyrazolone yellow with incubation at room temperature for 20–30 minutes. That is followed by fluorescent microscopy of the samples, photographing the obtained images and counting the area of cells using image analysis programs.

EFFECT: invention allows higher accuracy of assessment due to more contrast staining of the cell contour.
