FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy. A method for dephosphating melt of carbonate manganese concentrates involves melting the concentrate in an electric furnace. After its melting, quartzite is added to melt in order to obtain basicity of oxide melt CaO/SiO2, equal to 0.2–1.0, and after reaching oxide melt temperature of 1,400 °C is subjected to dephosphorization by blowing with gaseous carbon monoxide.
EFFECT: high degree of dephosphorization of carbonate manganese concentrates.
