FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser technology, namely to pulsed solid lasers. Laser with transverse diode pumping comprises an active element and a parallel pumping source in form of a line of laser diodes. Composition includes two reflectors installed along the longitudinal axis of the active element throughout the pumping source and located on different sides from the transverse axis connecting the centre of the active element and the line of laser diodes at angles to this axis, at which the energy of the output laser radiation is maximum. Reflectors with their one side abut on active element at minimum possible distance from it and overlap by its surface pumping radiation, including extreme rays with angles close to ϕmax. Distance L from the line of laser diodes to the axis of the active element with diameter 2r satisfies the condition , where αmax is half the divergence angle of pumping radiation. Reflectors can have curvature in the cross-section plane of the active element. Several pumping sources with reflectors along the periphery of the active element can also be introduced.

EFFECT: technical result is enabling possibility of increasing pumping efficiency.
