FIELD: photobiotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to photobiotechnology. Disclosed is a strain of microalgae Bracteacoccus aggregatus (syn. Cohaerens), which is a producer of a mixture of natural bioantioxidant astaxanthin and provitamin A (β-carotene). Strain is deposited in Russian Collection of Microalgae at establishment of "Timiryazev Institute of Plant Physiology of Russian Academy of Sciences (IPPAS)" with assigned identifier IPPAS C-2045.
EFFECT: strain is able to simultaneously accumulate high levels of astaxanthin and β-carotene.
